Jierra Beauty
We had the pleasure of collaborating with an exciting, new start up based in London, Jierra Beauty.
After being approached to design both the visual identity and packaging of the brand’s first product, we set out to understand what set their products apart from a rapidly growing homemade/organic industry.
Starting with the project brief; to create an identity that captures cultural influence, organic and wellbeing themes, in order to portray a small business that sells handmade, natural cosmetics.
With influences from Sierra Leone, Jamaica and the natural world, we spent time researching native species, plants and ceremonies.
Shapes for the logo were inspired by butterflies (specifically the Jamaican Giant Swallowtail), hummingbirds and flowers, all gentle and associated with a calm wellness and elegance.
Our first few ideas tried to capture the essence of the brand revolved around the use of kaleidoscopic symmetry contrasting against nuetral colours and macro photography.
Getting closer to realising the final design, we squashed any indecisiveness present by offering two separate logo designs, one for digital application and one for printed, packaging and marketing materials.
Jierra Beauty has seen success and support across big cosmetic publishing houses and has gone on to produce multple well received products.
