Curiosity
Rover

In collaboration with Creative Quests, Croydon Council and a small team of creatives, The Curiosity Rover was brought to life.

A mobile creative studio, taken to iconic spaces within Croydon, for young adults and families to interact with across the summer.

Starting out curious, ending inspired.

Ideas for the marketing materials were originally focused on inspiration from the Mars Rover,  and the intention to mirror it by exploring earth. Targeted at young aspiring euntrepenuers looking for opportunity and families with young children, the graphics had to be inclusive and memorable.

Original ideas

The first two concepts honoured the retro, exploration vibes from the initial brief, but in completely separate ways. Concept one was appealing to euntrepenuers but lacked a consistent brand image, so concept two was chosen for development.

Developing
The Journey

The hero image artwork evolved to better represent Croydon’s landmarks, the rover and make the type more legible. Artwork stays playful, colourful but informative.

Retro, space age feel is still present.

Keeping consistency with a stylised brand kit.

Finally, to share assets with the wider team, we designed a functioning brand kit, highlighting the do’s and don’ts of applying the identity to print and digital media.

Applying the digital aesthetic to the physical product.

Once the art direction was complete, it was time to decide how to apply the assets to the different, unique sections of rover itself.

What would draw people in the most without being to overwhelming?
